PROGRESSIVE VISION CENTER ACQUIRES SPOON RIVER OPTICAL

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CANTON, IL – January 19, 2017 – Progressive Vision Center announced that it has acquired Spoon River Optical.  With the pending retirement of James A. Farlik, O.D. of Spoon River Optical after 41 years, an agreement was made for purchase.  As of April 1, 2017, Dr. Farlik will be entrusting Progressive Vision Center with all of his patient records and continuity of care at their office at 42 N. Main Street in Canton.

Progressive Vision Center, located on the west side of the square in downtown Canton, provides a complete range of vision and medical eye health exams with state of the art technology to monitor diseases such as Cataract, Diabetic Eye Health, Macular Degeneration and Glaucoma; often saving costly referrals out of town.

“Our acquisition of Spoon River Optical is very exciting. We look forward to working with Dr. Farlik and his patients and transitioning him into a well-deserved retirement” says Dr. Bobell.

Robert C. Bobell, O.D.
A Canton native, Dr. Bobell is a 1980 graduate of Canton High School, a 1982 graduate of Spoon River College, and a 1984 graduate of Western Illinois University. He received his Doctor of Optometry Degree from the University of Missouri – St. Louis School of Optometry in 1988. He and his wife Carla reside in Canton and have 2 sons, Westin, and Nathan.

Dr. Bobell started Progressive Vision Center as a private practice in 1988 in an office located in the former Canton State Bank.  In 1994, he moved his office to 48 N. Main Street until June of 2010 when he moved into his current location at 42 N. Main Street in Canton.

Matthew S. Buczko, O.D.
A Havana native, Dr. Buczko joined Progressive Vision Center in April 2010.  He received his Doctor of Optometry Degree from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee in 2003.  Prior to optometry school, he attended Western Illinois University, graduating with honors in 1999.  While at WIU, he enjoyed playing trumpet for the Marching Leathernecks and the Grammy-nominated Jazz Studio Orchestra.  Dr. Buczko has three boys, Jacob, Joey and Joshua who reside in Canton.
